|Mark your calendars: Jaworek's Open Door Day will be 2-3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29!|
|Students in Lisa Pacific's and Ruth Kuniholm's kindergarten classes took to the Jaworek stage for an end-of-the-year performance of Eric Carle's "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" on June 17. The students themselves made the scenery and costumes for the play. Below are highlights of the performance.|
|Read Across America's celebration of Dr. Seuss was a family affair March 2 in Trish O'Malley's fourth-grade classroom, when sixth-grader Christopher King visited his sister's class to read. Rosie King joined her classmates to hear brother Christopher read "The Lorax," then paused for a photo afterward.
Each year Whitcomb School sixth-graders don Suess's trademark red and white striped hats and visit the elementary schools to read to the younger students in honor of Read Across America day.
|Helen Keller (aka actress Sheryl Faye) visited with Jaworek second-graders Feb. 2 and presented her "Helen Keller: Champion of the Disabled" show, in which she portrays what it must have been like for Keller to overcome her multiple disabilities. The show is one of several in Faye's Historical Women series. She appeared courtesy of the Jaworek PTO.|
|Kudos to Jaworek third-graders, who for the third year participated in an annual
December pajama drive. This year they collected 171 pairs of new pajamas for children in need. The pajamas will go to SMOC in Framingham to be disbursed to local shelters and agencies to help area families in crisis.

On Oct. 29, MA Senator James Eldridge, MA Representative Danielle Gregoire, and other Jaworek VIPs visited classrooms, read books to students, and answered questions for the school's annual Community Readers Day.
Thank you to all our community readers!
|The last two weeks in August were a flurry of activity in the Marlborough Public Schools as teachers prepared their classrooms for the new school year. Shown are Jaworek kindergarten teacher Nancy Tucker putting her new students’ names on bulletin board cut-outs. Also shown is new first-grade teacher Chelsea Sweetapple readying her bulletin board for her new “sweet apple” students’ photos.|

Parents: Starting with the 2012-13 school year, the district implemented a standards-based report card system. These report cards differ from those in the past; the new report cards reflect the Common Core standards embedded in the district’s new curriculum. Feedback on the report cards will be collected periodically to identify and develop revisions as needed. To access a parent pamphlet on the standards-based report cards, click: English - Portuguese - Spanish. To access a glossary of terms and phrases, click: English – Portuguese – Spanish.
